A few weeks ago I was convinced by my manicurist to try a gel manicure.  I have never been a fan of any nail altering because of the damage it does to the nail but once It was explained to me the gel can be soaked off in 15 minutes and wasn’t damaging, I wanted to hear more.  I was told the polish last an average of 2 weeks and helps make the nails nice and strong.  Well…….the result was interesting, my nails did seem to appear a bit stronger but the polish did not last two weeks as promised.  The polish lasted longer than my normal manicure polish, so with that I was very satisfied.  My next question was how do I accomplish this gel thing at home? so the research began.  I purchased a UV lamp online here, picked up  the necessary gel products here and did my own at home gel polish.  I loved the way it turned out, nice and shiny and dried rock hard in 3 minutes.  The one downside is the ongoing price when I want to change the colors up considering the mini .30 fl oz gel colors are a whopping $15.00 a bottle. The next challenge is to find out how I can make my own polish :).

Lol! Super ambitious with making your own polish. You can find it online for less than $15/bottle though. Dionne

I give myself gel manis at home, but I have WAY too many polishes to only use the gel ones. So I use the regular base coat + 2 coats of nail polish and a gel topcoat for a happy medium.

I think I want the dryer that you have! That looks super cool!

When using just the gel on top, does that still help with your chipping?

You can find gel polishes on Ebay. And Amazon sells the full size Gelish.
