Houndstooth DIY Pt2

A couple of months ago I made this top out of wool houndstooth fabric that was so incredibly easy to work with.  I  loved it so much I figured I would make this skirt out of the left over fabric using Vogue pattern V8841.  I also loved the cobalt and houndstooth combination so when I saw this jacket on sale at the Urban Outfitters store in China Town for only $20.00 I felt compelled.  The jacket is a great vibrant color and with the exception of the uber cheap pleather oddly colored sleeves, I really liked it.  So of course I had to remove the sleeves and replace them with cobalt suede.

Hi Nikki. I love the jacket and skirt. I too am from the same area and am dying to make it to the leather outlet in B-more. Will do soon! I like how you used some of the suede to outline your pockets. If you don't mind, what pattern did you use for the skirt? I have pencil skirt patterns but none with pockets. I have yet to sew pockets but am anxious. I recently made a top with hounds tooth from M6204 and modified it by adding side belt holes and extending the left sleeve only as short as the right. The fabric IS easy to work with.

Thank you! Tandy also delivers to this area overnight and as long as you give them detailed notes on the online order form they are very good with selecting great pieces. I used Vogue V8841 for the pattern and shortened in by about 4 inches. It's a really easy pattern and the pockets on this one is easier than most so you should have no problem.

The skirt is a real classic. But I love the jacket reconstruction. It looks much better than the original.
