DIY Lantern Sleeve Dress

plaid10.1-009-1

When I initially spotted this gorgeous wool fabric, it reminded me of Vivienne Westwood and her beautiful tartan dresses and tops. Uncertain what I wanted to do with it, I thought back to the beautiful Roksanda Ilincic lantern sleeve dress and decided to make my winter interpretation using McCalls pattern M5927 with several alterations.

Dress: DIY
Earrings: AV Max
Bracelet: YSL
Booties: Gianvito Rossi

Great dress! I would amp it up with different shoes to give it more sophisticated look. Love the dress!

Thank you! I think going with a classic pair of heels would make it way too ordinary, I chose the boots to give it personality.

Great dress, I love it. I also agree the boots made it hot. Heels would have made it pretty, so it just depends on the mood just saying lol

I love the dress but not a fan of the sleeves – imo they are to big and distract me from the beauty of the dress

Thank you! the sleeves are what I love the most, so I guess it's all a preference.

I've been thinking about making a lantern sleeve dress after I saw Roksanda Ilincic's beautiful lantern sleeve top a year ago. Your dress is lovely and I'm glad I found your blog.

Thank you so much! aren't her dresses amazing? I'm thinking about making this in a bright yellow as well.
