DIY Radiant Orchid Jacket

Along with the trend of boxy jackets and coats, this is the year of radiant orchid, the pantone color for 2014.  When this was released, I thought hmmm I don’t know about this pink/purpleish color until I came across this mulberry colored double cloth twill from moodfabrics.com Because I was familiar with this fabric, I knew it would make a great coat, with it’s nice weight and stiffer feel.   I’m now sold on radiant orchid.

This jacket was made with Vogue V8862 view C   with the following pattern alterations:

-Used only the top half of the pattern and added 4″
-Added a 2.5″ navy blue textured fabric around the hem
-Removed the middle seam from the back of the pattern
-Added a 2.5″ band around the sleeve
-Left off the pockets and buttons
