DIY Little black wool dress

lbd
My last few weeks have been filled with an obsession with vintage patterns.  If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you will see my stock pile of patterns I found on Craigslist, in addition to my awesome FB follower Melanie that passed on her late aunts patterns to me #grateful.
The clean lines of vintage patterns have always been my favorite which I plan to incorporate into my own patterns when they launch this spring.
This dress was made with vintage Vogue 2235 with the following pattern alterations:
-Added a gathered shoulder
-Added slits at the wrist
When it came to selecting a fabric for this dress, I wanted a wool suiting with a bit of stretch and this wool at Moodfabrics.com was perfect.  It’s a heavy weight suiting that cuts, sews, drapes and irons nicely.

Nikki, I love, love, love this dress! It looks absolutely stunning on you! I have a Butterick (5313) pattern with similar lines I made not too long ago. What a great idea to make it a little black dress…absolutely genius on your part! Happy Thanksgiving!
