And then enters my new favorite coat…………………
If there was ever a coating fabric that reads high end, it’s without a doubt this medium weight Italian wool from moodfabrics.com. It’s one of those fabrics you happen upon and are amazed at how beautiful it is. It sews, cut and irons to perfection allowing you to achieve a crisp professional look. Online this fabrics reads brown, but I would definitely describe it as an army green.
This coat was made using Vogue V8841 view B with the following alterations:
-Added placket seam pockets
-Added sleeve belts
-Added 8″ to the length of the belt
-Added 1.5″ to the width of the collar
-Added 2 belt loops
I lined the coat using this twill suiting from Moodfabrics.com which made even the inside simply amazing. I wouldn’t typically line a coat using this fabric but the lining I was originally going to use, was the wrong color and I had this fabric in my stash.
Needless to say I will be grabbing a few more yards of this beauty.

Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it. My next pattern release for McCalls is pre-fall coming out soon but I definitely have a coat pattern on the agenda. Im actually in the process of creating a coat/jacket lookbook that should be ready in the next couple weeks.

I just picked up this pattern at a thrift shop shop, and I have three metres of amazing navy wool. I think I’m going to make the longer version like you! When you say you added 1.5” to the collar, was just just the collar piece, or also the lapel?
