Houndstooth is one of those classic patterns that will never go out of style. Many many many years ago one of my favorite pieces of clothing was a houndstooth rain coat I think I wore everyday of the fourth grade. I won’t even discuss why I was the only kid walking around in a houndstooth rain coat, suffice to say I LOVED it.
This houndstooth is a medium weight cotton suiting with stretch in the weft. Although this dress doesn’t require stretch, this fabric would be great as a fitted skirt or pants.
This dress was made using vintage Vogue 9143 with the following alterations:
-Remove 19″ from the length of the dress
-Added 6″ to the length of the sleeves
Chandler’s dress was made using Simplicity 2376 with the following alterations:
-Added 2″ to the width of the frill
-Added a 1/2″ maxi piping
