DIY Perfectly plaid

Since I can remember, I’ve been in love with plaid.  It’s one of those fabrics that can turn an ordinary dress into something a bit more special.  This plaid suiting from moodfabrics.com is one of those fabrics.  It’s a perfect light weight one direction stretch summer suiting that’s perfect for not only dresses but would also make a great fitting pair of pants.

This dress was made vintage Simplicity 8390 with the following pattern alterations:

-Removed the fluted hem portion of the pattern and used only the top portion

-Added 6″ to the length

-Added an encased 1/2″ elastic around the waist

-Used the sleeve of McCalls M5927 and left 3 1/2″ of the bottom of the sleeve seam open.

Dress: DIY

Heels: Giuseppe Zanotti

Bag: Vintage

Sunglasses: Stella McCartney

Love the simplicity of this dress. It’s actually really similar to a wool pencil length derss I purchased 3.5 years ago from Zara.
