When the seasons start to change, selecting fabric can be a bit tricky. I’m still inclined to purchase lighter fabric but in a darker color. My solution is to simply line the fabric with my trusty charmeuse which will give the look a bit more weight and a more finished feel. So if you’re like me and still don’t want to give up on your warm-weather fabric like this blue medium weight linen, Try adding a charmeuse lining.
This dress was made using the bodice of vintage Vogue 9143 with the following alterations:
-Cut the pattern at the point where you would lengthen or shorten
-Add darts in the back and front
-Added a 15″ self-drafted skirt
-Inserted a side zipper
-Added a 7″x43″ gathered ruffle
-Added a pleated oversized sleeve
-Added an elastic band to the sleeve
-Added a 2″ serged band to the bottom of the dress
Chandler’s dress was made using vintage Simplicity 8990 with the following alterations:
-Remove 3″ from the length
-Added a 3″ pleated ruffle
-Added 2″ to the width of the bottom of the sleeve
-Added a 2″ elastic to the wrist
