With the Holiday party season fast approaching, I wanted to get a head start on my perfect little party dress.
When I think of the perfect party dress, the first thing that comes to mind is sequins. I knew I wanted tiny sequins for a dress with a bit of weight and a lot of movement. Then enters this Jay Godfrey sequin fabric that’s simply perfect.
This fabric is on a black mesh with a small amount of stretch for comfort. It’s super bright and shiny and the perfect party dress.
Using a super small needle, sewing through theses sequins was a breeze.
The pattern used for this dress was Butterick B6050 view C with the following pattern alterations:
-Removed the scoop neck
-Added 6″ to the length of the edge of the upper back
-Removed 6″ from the top of the back pattern piece
-Cut the upper back in two pieces
-Added 1″ to the top of the sleeve 3″ to the length and 2″ to the width
-Added 2 hook & eye closures to the upper back
-Removed 23″ from the length
This dress was lined using a charmeuse I had in my stash
I’m a sucker for anything that sparkles and this dress definitely hits that sweet spot. Now as much as I’d love to make myself a little sequin dress I just can’t be bothered to work with such a fussy fabric, so I’ll just have to admirer yours instead.
That dress is perfection! The back is especially amazing – totally gorg!
Thank you so much.
