DIY tunic and shorts

If there is one piece of clothing I’m completely obsessed with, it has to be a tunic. They can be worn all year round! with jeans, alone and now with shorts. If I have to describe my style in one word, it would be tunic.

Now lets talk about this fabric!!! Simply amazing. It’s a stiffer weight silk from A Fabric Place that’s much more amazing in person. It’s lightweight and perfect for more structured looks.

The tunic was made using a self drafted pattern, but can be duplicated using a number of patterns including this Butterick 5948 shirt pattern by adding length to the hem, a 9″ zipper at the side slit, a back zipper and an exaggerated sleeve. The shorts were self drafted as well.

The waist bag which is perfect for giving boxier looks some shape was self drafted and the pattern and step by step instructions are available here for download.
