DIY layered separates

I’ve always been an absolute fan of layers. I enjoy a pair of jeans under a tunic any day of the week. So the idea of a great pair of wide leg trousers under an A-line high waist mini paired with a long sleeve crop top does nothing but make me smile. The beauty of making your own clothes is being able to define your own proportions.

These trousers were made using my McCalls 7580 pattern with an added 3″ band at the hem.

The skirt was made using vintage McCalls 2905 view D with the following alterations:

-Removed 10″ from the length

Used the waist band of the trouser pattern

The top was made using Vogue V8877 with the following alterations:

-Added 4″ to the length of the sleeve

-Added a back seam and a 9″ zipper

-Removed the vertical seam lines on the front and back

-Added 1″ to the height of the neck

The fabric used was this Italian stretch wool suiting from Moodfabrics.
