DIY drape front jacket

When I’m shopping for sewing patterns, I look at the pattern as a base.  Nine times out of ten I never like the pattern but view it in terms of potential, and before I can see the potential I have to have a design inspiration in mind.  That brings me to this pattern…… Mcalls M5937 and these inspirations from Helmut Lang, Givenchy and Michael Kors .  I used a wool/cashmere blend and lined with a poly blend, finished it off with Minelli Italian leather to the sleeves.

Pattern alterations:

Shorten the pattern by 5 inches
Added a drawstring to the waist
Added gathers to the back of the neck to allow the collar to remain in the up position.
Shortened the sleeves and added cashmere
Added a button closure to create an additional look

Pants: 7  For All mankind
Sweater- Vintage Givenchy
Tank- Target
Boots: Givenchy
Clutch- BCBG
Shades: Ray Ban
