A few years ago prior to pinterest, I spotted the most amazing Michael Kors coat that I still have on my office inspiration board. It was one of those I’m in love moments of pure visual bliss. I tend to update my inspiration board throwing out old and updating new with the exception of this beauty. Generally when I’m inspired, Its normally the color, the fit or the cut that inspires me most but with this coat I’m inspired by it all and it shows in this interpretation.
The coat was made using this plaid wool from moodfabrics.com and the same fox fur used on this blazer. It was lined with a matte silk charmeuse which gives the inside a nice polished look. The pattern used was this downloaded Burdastyle 08/2012 #101B with the following alterations:
-Added 8″ to the lapel
-Added 4″ to the collar
-Added extended cover pockets instead of seam pockets
-Added an additional back panel
-Added a fur collar
-Added a wrist seam
