For the past year, I’ve been completely obsessed with everything embroidered. From shoes to bags to clothes and even my cell phone case which I’m sure has taken it a bit too far. So when I opened my Instagram feed and spotted these beautiful embroidered roses. I immediately ran to my computer and ordered them. When they arrived I loved them even more. How can you not love a 10″ embroidered rose? I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but I quickly figured it out with this tunic. Now that I’ve gushed about the rose, let’s talk about mercerized cotton, which is what this tunic is made out of. If you’re not familiar with mercerized cotton, it’s simply a process fabric is taken through to give it strength and luster. What this means to you is a beautiful feeling fabric with a slight sheen that can take a simple cotton to the next level. The selection of mercerized fabric on moodfabrics.com is a must see.
This tunic was made using vintage McCalls 8755 with the following pattern alterations:
-Removed 7″ from the length
-Added 2″ to the length of the bodice
-Faced the front and back bodice
-Added a 38″x3″ pleat around each shoulder
-Added embroidered roses
