Little summer frock

When searching for the quintessential summer fabric, the first thing that comes to mind is chambray.  I love this super light weight fabric that’s perfect for balmy temperatures.  This chambray from moodfabrics.com is as light weight as you can find, it sews and cuts easily and even makes the perfect mini attire.

The pattern used for this frock was vintage McCalls 4280 with the following alterations:

-Removed the seam from the front bib

-Added a 9″ zipper at the back of the neck

-Only pleated the middle of the bottom of the bib

-Added a 7″x60″ pleated extension to the bottom of the top

-Added a gathered shoulder and a shoulder pleat

-Added a 5.5″x 30″ pleated bell sleeve

I used the selvedge of the fabric as the hem

(we will blame the photographer aka husband for the fact my zipper wasn’t zipped :()

Chandler’s dress was made with a self drafted pattern I will be posting for download and repurposed crochet lace.
